How did you get the idea of Evernote ?

Evernote was founded in 2005 by a Russian-American entrepreneur Stepan Pachikov. He felt that computers can do more to help people remember what is dear and important to them, both in their personal and professional life. By 2007 this idea evolved into technical architecture and business model that Evernote is today. We launched the service in 2008 and currently have over 4.7 million users all over the world. We also have a vibrant community of developers, building products and services that use Evernote platform and complement it in important ways. Recently we launched Evernote Trunk to help our partners showcase their solutions to Evernote users – http://www.evernote.com/about/intl/fr/trunk . It already has over 100 items in it. One of our most popular partner apps is Seesmic, which has French roots.

What is your business model ?

We use so-called "freemium" model – basic service is free, premium service offers additional features and functionality. Annual subscription costs $45, monthly – $5. Between 2 and 3% of our registered users buy premium subscription. But this conversion rate gets higher over time – the longer a person uses Evernote, the more likely she is to switch to premium subscription. Service is only two and half years old, but over 18% of our oldest active users are premium subscribers. This is good business for Evernote and convenient, flexible model for our users. It gives us financial strength for building a very large-scale service for everyone.

Could you provide us with some figures and data on Evernote
