Lancement imminente de TripBirds, métadonnées sociales pour construire un site de Voyage !
Questions for the founder Ted Valentin
You will open a Beta service, TripBirds can you tell us about?
On Tripbirds you can get travel recommendations from your friends. If you're going to Barcelona, for example, you can see which of your friends have been there, which friends live there, and much more. We collect data about your friends trips from Facebook, Foursquare, Gowalla and Instagram. The service is still on closed beta, but when you sign up we give you some interesting statistics about your own and your friends trips.
How did you get the idea?
I have previously built sites in Sweden where people can review restaurants and hotels. My experience is that fake reviews is a big problem. We realized that the best solution to this problem is making is asking your friends for recommendations, just like you do offline.
The service is based on data from Facebook, Foursquare, Gowalla and Instagram Why do so many services?
On Tripbirds you can see all your friends travel activity in one place. It shouldn't matter if your friends "check in" using Foursquare or Facebook, for example.
How will you do to differentiate yourself?
Our philosophy on reusing data from other social sites sets us apart. In the coming years, people will create and share more and more geotagged information from their smartphones, using many different apps and services. We want to use as much of that data as possible, to build a great travel site.
